Features
The G2 Handi-Remote Interface requires the use of a “dry” 4-pair cable. “Dry” signifies that the cable is physically “straight through” between the two units. When installing the interface a complete end-to-end copper cable run is necessary. Cable runs in environments with significant interference will require Category 6 shielded cable.
The G2-Handi-Remote Interface kit is comprised of two modules.
Module 1 (TU Portion) - A 6" connection cable is included linking the MSAT-G2 radio to the module. One end of the cable is attached to the MSAT-G2 radio’s handset connector. The other end is attached to the G2 Handi-Remote module connector labeled “MSAT-G2 RADIO”. The CAT5/5E/6 extender cable is attached to the connector labeled “CABLE TO HANDSET”. The TU portion of the G2-Handi-Remote module is powered via the MSAT-G2 radio’s 12-volt power source.
Module 2 (Handset Portion) - One end of the extension cable is attached to the module connector labeled “CABLE FROM RADIO”. The handset is attached to the connector labeled “MSAT-G2 HANDSET”. Module 2 is powered from an external +12VDC power supply (included).
The connection between the two modules is isolated and contains no Ground or DC power. This connection ensures better noise isolation and minimization of ground loops that can cause increased noise. The cable carries balanced 2-wire transmit audio, balanced 2-wire receive audio, differentially driven transmit data and differentially driven receive data. To ensure the best operation, utilize Category 5 or better cable. CAT 5 cable is not included.
